So my hot glue gun that I ordered finally arrived, and so I had to try it out. I embarked on a ridiculous project involving sticking buttons onto a boring lampshade. This project is all over the internet and I wanted something quick and easy to practice with.
Lemme tell ya – its called a HOT glue gun for a reason. And reason clearly left me alone as I began sticking those darned buttons all over the shade – the glue seeps up between the tiny holes and burns…oh boy does it burn! So I was kind of stick-press-ouch!, stick, press, ouch! a fair amount of the time, until I got myself a thimble to protect my finger.
So anyway, it got finished and looks nice enough for a craft room. (Please excuse the bad paint job between the ceiling and wall in the background there….cutting in has never been my strong point and I haven’t painted the ceiling yet…..)
Hi, Hi…..I’m still here. I was struck down with the dreaded lurgy – well hubby got it first, then it was my turn. So I haven’t been online much at all. but we are feeling better, and…..yes, ready to get back at it creatively speaking. Thats the thing about this time of year – especially in Scotland with the weather switching randomly from day to day (even hour to hour in some cases – this morning for example, I left the house and wandered to town bathed in sunshine, listening to all the little birds and it was all very springlike and tra-la-la…..then on arriving at the first shop, the heavens opened and I was soaked. Lovely stuff. Not.
So I haven’t done very much creating at all, but I’m cranking up the muse to get something going as we head into late afternoon.
Hope you are all very well and happy. I missed you all.
I don’t even have a picture to head up this post…tut tut, very disappointing.
Hello, Happy Monday to you all 🙂 Today I made myself a little notebook, just because……
I don’t need another notebook, but I couldn’t bear to see the huge amount of brown packing paper that was scrunched up ready to go out to the bin. I mean, it was a huge pile…..so I tore it up into strips (easy as it was already perforated), and ironed it. Yes I do iron sometimes….haha!
After I ironed it, I folded it up into signatures
Then sewed along the edges to make the pages secure….one single page wasn’t thick enough, so I doubled them up.
After that I put a few signatures together and sewed up the middle so that it would fold over nicely
I glued some tissue paper onto the cover to make it….pretty, and placed contact paper over that so it would lie flat. It kind of detracts from the whole recycling thing, using contact paper, but I want to take this out in public and I’m sure nobody wants bits of tissue paper floating around their head, haha!
So there we are – a hand made little book 31 pages thick, and measuring 7 x 7 inches.
P.S My writing is atrocious, I know.…
Hello everyone, I hope you are enjoying the weekend! I wanted to share this painting with you, because…..well, I’m kind of excited about it. (Everything I do makes me stupidly happy, but still….there is always room for more smiles!)
This is in a larger size format……most of my decals are fairly small, about A4 size (8.3 x 11.7 for US people), but this…..this….is huge in comparison! Its almost like A2 size…..(approx 16 x 16 inches – although strictly speaking A2 is 16×23 inches)
The larger size means a different way of working, as in trying to get a new consistency for the paint, different drying times before lifting it from the surface. I’m also using different paper so I have to allow for that too…gosh who knew hard thinking could be this much fun! 🙂
I’m working on a larger size so that I can actually try and get some framed to hang on the wall…..instead of using an app to see what they “would” look like if they were bigger.
Anyway….thats what I’m doing this weekend. What about you?
So, today I was painting and made some decals. I was especially proud of this one
which I called “Plant Shoots” due to it reminding me of some weird bamboo plant with pod like things emerging. Or it could be eyes…..
I actually made a rough GIF with these two together, as if the eyes were blinking. Looked pretty cool, until I showed my husband…..
“Oh, are you doing a project on women’s health? Look, ovaries…..”
