Ugh, Radio Silence again

Ok so I’m hopeless at blogging, heh! So caught up in work. My days start early and finish late, and are filled with a myriad of people buying a myriad of odd things. (In one shop we had a sale….buy two, get one free. A woman bought three packs of socks, saying she would only use two packs, but another free pack was better as a spare. I suggested she use it as a “stocking filler for Christmas……” She didn’t get it, ah well)

Winter street small

Took this shot as I walked to the train station one foggy morning.

Been playing with incredibox  which is a music maker in which you have funny little guys make music and singing lyrics by picking different clothes. Weird, but then all weird things amuse me! (One of the lyric lines is “When an elephant bats it back, c’mon yeah, ya gotta get up”)

Marvelling at the recent frost affecting nature – this spiders web is amazing!

I may also be buying a 5ft tall stuffed plushie monkey.  It weighs a ton, is as tall as I am and will take up a train seat all of its own. Should I actually buy this monstrous thing, (it was stuck in the basement of a shop I work in….it needs rehomed!) I will have to literally carry it down one of Glasgow’s busiest city streets, amongst Christmas shoppers, because I don’t drive y’see. Now that’ll be a feat worthy of documenting, heh!

A lighthouse

We went for a walk a couple of days ago along the beach, and I took a photo of a lighthouse that was on some craggy rocks. The rocks were split so far apart that we couldn’t reach the lighthouse for a proper look, but apparently it was built in 1911 and still works as a proper guiding light for ships (or warning, depending on your point of view on a stormy sea!)

I made it black and white for effect – I love that sky!

Playing with Shadow

flower shadow

The sun streamed in through the window for a brief moment, casting a pretty shadow of a small vase of flowers, on the wall. I love those shapes…..

flower neg

The I turned it into a negative, just to see what it looked like.

Funny the things a person does while waiting for the kettle to boil for tea 😀

Black and White

So today I went for a 2 hour walk in the pouring rain. It wasn’t raining when I left the house, but there you have it. Its Scotland. We rain. Its exhilarating….

I tried the monochrome setting on my camera today….I’m not sure if I like it that much to be honest. Maybe it was the lighting, or the subject matter, but they came out kind of “meh”. I’m working my way up to street photography, but I’m not brave enough yet for people shots. Its taking me all my time to do this. (People get very suspicious when you bring out a camera)

witches cauldron

(This last one is a witches cauldron on a stone wall. There are many witches here y’know, oh yes) Anyway, I tried to ignore the colour and concentrate on texture, but it was pouring with rain, and fiddly so I’m going to try again this week. When its dry…..and sunny? Hmm.
