So I have a job now. Hence my absence. I may have a job and a half after Wednesday, but for now I have *a* job. Until December. Its in a shop, nothing like an office, but its ok….although dealing with people all day is exhausting. (Introvert problems y’see)
Trouble is, I have no time to be creative which annoys me. I’m still finding my feet and getting time to play is few and far between. However, I did manage the mini painting up there, and a bit of decalcomania
And now I’m going to nap. Because working is hard work. 🙂
I have tried many times this morning to create a
head face in profile with Decalcomania – and this is my best effort, ha! It expresses my current mood perfectly! Hope you are all well and having a nice week. Wherever you are. 😀
I put this decal painting of mine in a frame, just to see what it looks like. Then I took out the glass, and I much prefer the way it looks when there is no glass in the way. Its not conventional to have an un-glassed artwork in a frame, especially when its an original…..but y’know…I like it. And I’m not a conventional person, but….I was wondering if it lacks professionalism not have glass over it? I just think the colours “pop” more when its open like this. What do you think? Do you prefer to look at a painting with glass or no glass (naturally I couldn’t take a decent photo of it with glass on it, due to said reflection issues……)
Hello everyone! I hope you are all well. Gosh its turned SO cold today – we had snow and wind and allsorts….I thought it was supposed to be Spring! Anyway, I did this little decalcomania painting of a little stream running through some reeds out into the open river. I was thinking of my local river and how high it is with all the recent rain, and the treacherous waterfall that pounds over the rocks – I really must take a photo in the next couple of days, because it has swamped all the little islands that the ducks live on, and now they are all paddling furiously around trying to find food and dry land! (Having re-read that I realise how terribly British it is to complain about the weather. My last post was on that subject too – I do apologise *ahem*)
Hello everyone, I hope you are enjoying the weekend! I wanted to share this painting with you, because…..well, I’m kind of excited about it. (Everything I do makes me stupidly happy, but still….there is always room for more smiles!)
This is in a larger size format……most of my decals are fairly small, about A4 size (8.3 x 11.7 for US people), but this…..this….is huge in comparison! Its almost like A2 size…..(approx 16 x 16 inches – although strictly speaking A2 is 16×23 inches)
The larger size means a different way of working, as in trying to get a new consistency for the paint, different drying times before lifting it from the surface. I’m also using different paper so I have to allow for that too…gosh who knew hard thinking could be this much fun! 🙂
I’m working on a larger size so that I can actually try and get some framed to hang on the wall…..instead of using an app to see what they “would” look like if they were bigger.
Anyway….thats what I’m doing this weekend. What about you?
So, today I was painting and made some decals. I was especially proud of this one
which I called “Plant Shoots” due to it reminding me of some weird bamboo plant with pod like things emerging. Or it could be eyes…..
I actually made a rough GIF with these two together, as if the eyes were blinking. Looked pretty cool, until I showed my husband…..
“Oh, are you doing a project on women’s health? Look, ovaries…..”
So I thought I would try and see how a decalcomania painting of mine would look on a wall….(this is not my room….its just a random wall art app). I think it looks alright in a larger size really.
This is the painting in a close up…..quite abstracty and minimalist I think.
Hello everybody! I hope you are all well 😀 I realised with a bit of a shock that today is practically the end of January already, and its been a week since I blogged. I want to share my first (of the year) Decalcomania with you. As regular readers will know, I have a bit of an obsession with this art form, and practice it fairly regularly as in here and here and oh, lets have this one too I also mess around with them to achieve weird effects like this.
But these are two I did this week
This looks a bit like water tumbling around the bottom of a cliff face, don’t you think? or maybe a little riverbank and some (blotchy) leaves are being blown into the stream.
And these could be steps….maybe leading up to the cliff? Or steps carved out from a mountain.
Either way, I adore the 3D effect of Decalcomania.
Yes, I know, its been so very long since I posted – over 20 days. I’m sorry. Have a collage
Thing is, I have really been in a stuck place creatively speaking. My muse, Matilda,
Decided to run away
So I really didn’t know what to do with myself
I played and painted, tried some collage – didn’t work. I don’t like playing with other peoples images really. I tried to make some of my own collage bits, didn’t work either.
So then I fell back on my beloved Decalcomania. And wondered if I could enhance that somewhat. So I did a little balloon, because I adore balloons.
So I’m back….. *waves to new followers*
…..I thought I would add a negative filter to some *bad* decalcomania to see if any improvements could be made. I was quite impressed with these how these turned out, even if they are a bit bright and fluorescent!
