I think I’m pretty much done with paint pouring now. I like the effects I’m getting, but I refuse to move forward with the various mediums and stuff people use. I like to keep it simple – and mixing silicone with Floetrol, etc, just doesn’t appeal to me. Anyway, here are a couple I made using plain old poster paints. They look amazing when wet, but dry matt and muddy, so thats no good.
Looks like oil or watercolour, huh?
If only they stayed like that I would be a happy bunny! Ah well….oh and I did this too – a paint poured vinyl record.
The colours are more vibrant than on screen, and this is acrylic paint with water.
So I think I’ll go clean up now and move on to something else.
Who would have thought Scotland could bask in such heat? I’d forgotten what the sunshine felt like! So glad to be in the house rather than outside – I’ve been painting this morning. Well, not actively painting with a brush, more just pouring paint around. here are some detail shots of the ones I like.
One thing I’m learning about this technique, is that (apparently) the idea is to get cells appearing, which shows the colour underneath, but, I don’t like cells. I mean, this one is very pretty, and its still changing, but……I prefer the flowing and merging colours of a marble effect. Its personal preference, of course, but…..
….I much prefer this look….the veiny patterns and random shapes, all soft and flowy.
Still, both are nice in their own way. I’m trying to get hold of some decent varnish or even resin (gulp) to coat the surface of them. I love the glassy look rather than matt, although I’m kind of worried about the chemical element of such things. Ah well…..onwards and upwards.
