So, with this college course…..I have to complete a small work placement. Its just for experience, to put what we have learned, into practice. I ended up being placed in a small doctors surgery in the middle of the countryside……basically because I was the only person who wanted it. Everyone else in the class wanted “city slicker” hospitals because there was more chance of being taken on as an employee. Fair enough, but from what I have seen there are many different vacancies all over the place. I’m quite laid back and utterly uncompetitive…I’ll get a job somewhere, heh!
Anyway, my point is…..as my classmates were cramming into trains, buses, traffic jams, etc on a baking hot day…..I was meandering along country roads filled with cherry blossom, listening to birdsong, feeling the warm sun on my face and taking photos en route.
Such a beautiful river that I had to cross.
By way of this bridge. Look at how unbusy it is, heh!
This little path is filled with bluebells. I had to cut through this to get to the place I’ll be working for the next couple of weeks.
A lovely old church – just down the road from the one at the top of this post. The place I work is just up the road and round the corner. The day went by quite well, and I spent lunchtime sitting by the river watching a heron, feeling so appreciative and grateful that I’m not trapped in a hot sticky office!
Tomorrow is going to be raining apparently, haha! Doubt I’ll be as cheery then 😀
Just a quick additional post before I go to bed. I was at the window wondering what all the hullabaloo was outside (it was drunken people, noisier than usual as its a holiday Monday, and that means an extra nights fun – if you are that way inclined) anyway, I noticed the moon so grabbed my camera to take a couple of shots.
I love the way the clouds are all wispy and soft over the moon. This was taken through the glass window….far too cold to open it, heh!
Is it strange that I would rather look at the moon than go for a drink? Hmmm
So hello! How are you all? I’m having a really good day today – one of those “high energy” days when the sun shines, you fling open the windows thinking its going to be a fabulous day.
My dog has other ideas though……
She is a bit of a lazy bones when its warm. In fact she doesn’t like going out when its wet either, so…..its hard work being a dog.
I haven’t been doing much creating of late……trying to get the Room of Doom straightened out and decluttered for college has taken up most of my time. Being ruthless with “my stuff” is a terrible ordeal. Its something that requires a constant stream of “Do I need this? Will it come in useful? Why haven’t I used it then”? questions. I have already dispatched 14 wallpaper sample books to the recycling (which gets picked up tomorrow – and no I won’t be fetching them back beforehand – although I did think about it)
I have been watching some minimalist videos on YouTube and feeling all inspired. So I tackled a room and decorated it in a neutral palette…..
This does have a vintage filter on it, but basically its all browns and creams. I had a mad idea to use up some samples in a patchwork design on one wall……and I don’t like it now. In fact I’m not sure I like the room (its a tiny bedroom that was my daughters)Do you see the button lamp I glued up from ages ago? And that Bureau was a gift from hubby about 7 years ago – I adore bureaus.
Only have a couple of weeks to go before college starts. They want a photo of me for my college card, and no matter how many times I send one to them, it gets rejected for one reason or another! I’m no good at selfies, haha!
So I hope you are all well. Bye for now 🙂
I took this shot in the High Street, as a flock of pigeons rose and swarmed like locusts swooping on a field of….what do locusts eat….grain? A field of grain.
So! Why is life like pigeons….well, we have the Lurgy again. Apparently its the 100 day Cold, according to the doctor. Hubby is on antibiotics, while I’m just sniffy. I tried to continue with doll production, but its not really happening. I got as far as this….
…….then got bored. I’m all out of patience right now. Bleugh. I want to paint, but the Room of Doom is all Doomlike again, which makes me fed up.
I need more space (hahaha! Nope.) I need to chuck out some stuff. Purge time. The idea doesn’t excite me, but needs must. I have to start the week productively and no sniffles are going to stop me!
Hope you are all well here in Blogland.
I had a clear up over the weekend and lost 4 collage I had made during the week. Pretty gutted about that, but I made two more. These are space ones (again, yes I have a lot of space backgrounds to use up, sorry about that!)
I quite like this one because the lighting worked out well against his face.
Not too sure about this one…..I like the planets I added at the side, and the turtle, but I feel like the boat is all wrong. The idea is quirky, but just the wrong type of boat. Ah well, its all about the learning I suppose. 🙂
Geekery stuff – well I finally caved in and got myself a new computer. I have wanted one for years, and this old macbook I am working on now is over 7 years old, and was a refurbished model to boot . Its been a regular little workhorse, mind you, and has coped with pretty much all I have thrown at it, until recently it began freezing and stalling and basically refusing to do anything its told while off the mains charge. The battery drains ridiculously quickly, and, well its time to retire it…..kind of. I’m thinking I could use it as back up until it really does die on me. What the new one will allow me to do, is work smarter and faster, without all the rigmarole of emailing myself information and pictures and being chained to the worktable to actually get some work done. So thats a good thing.
Now all I need to do is work tidily….if only there was an app for that.
So I wandered down to the second hand charity warehouse place about 40 mins away. I haven’t been there before, and had no idea of the amount of books it had! Its a veritable goldmine for paper addicts! I collected a few old books and magazines (that were actually destined for landfill, because they had been lying there so long that they were taking up valuable space – can you imagine!! Throwing out books – what??)
I made these two collages with Nat Geo magazines and a foreign book from 1960 on Latvia, (apparently)
I like the look on this guys face “I’m just out for a spot of fishing, love, what d’you think you’re playing at, being all come hither?! I’m a married man!!” (only in Latvian, not like the Peter Kaye voice I had going on in my head!)
I also have a couple of works in progress going on. I discovered that if you put eyes on something, it takes on a whole new life……
Amazing what eyes on an apple and a glass of wine can turn into, eh?
